CRITICAL IMPACT
Flight systems lost. Brake before touchdown or use landing assist with B.
Optional shortcuts. Select a location to teleport, or Shift + click to set a course for normal flight.
Click the view to capture your mouse. Look around, pick a direction, and go.
Fly-by-wire · default: assists steering, corrects drift and brakes gradually when you release thrust. Every ship carries momentum; the Atlas needs more room to turn and stop. Hold X / LT / L2 for full braking thrust.
Unlocked · V / R3: release thrust to coast, then turn independently of your direction of travel. You can turn 180° and fire while flying backwards. Toggle again to restore fly-by-wire. Braking still takes time in either mode.
Combat / cruise · Z or Menu → Ship: separate from flight assist. Combat speed limits are Kestrel 220 m/s, Nomad 180 m/s and Atlas 120 m/s. Cruise allows faster travel and locks weapons. Switching back slows you gradually.
Fire · hold T / RT / R2: ship weapons require combat mode, speed within your ship’s combat limit, boost off and landing gear fully retracted. Retract gear with G or hold LB + RB and press D-pad ↓. Brake below 10 m/s before using landing or docking assist.
Near the star, radiation can overheat and destroy the ship; use cruise to retreat.
Connect a controller and press a button.
Standard Xbox and PlayStation layouts are supported when recognized by your browser. Release sticks and buttons after connecting or returning to the game. Mouse capture is optional.
In menus, D-pad / left stick moves the visible selection, A / ✕ confirms, B / ○ returns and the right stick scrolls. LB / RB changes gameplay tabs. Release sticks and buttons before returning to flight.
Unlock the 64 m Atlas freighter by landing on Aeon, Selene or Pyre and docking at Aeon Orbital. Press U while seated at the station to select it. F / controller X operates the front and aft loading ramps and the crew lift between the cargo deck and bridge. Close both ramps and stop the crew lift before launch.
Kestrel is a single-seat interceptor by Meridian Shipworks. F opens its canopy and descends the port ladder when landed. Board again with F at the ladder; B launches after the canopy seals. It has four empty S2 mounts and no cargo hold.
In Nomad and Atlas, press F to stand during ordinary flight or after landing. A powered ship with flight assist holds its course and speed while you walk; external exits remain secured in flight. After landing, walk aft to the rear hatch and press F to open it and lower the ramp. The orange cargo container on the starboard cabin wall opens with F; take or stow supplies in your backpack. The port berth uses F / controller X to recline and stand. Its posture stays attached while the ship moves; it does not heal, skip time or save a logout position. At the aft port rack or orange starboard chest, F / X opens persistent cargo transfers. The rack shows installed boxes and live capacity; eight mounts hold up to 64 stack slots, with a separate 120 kg supplies limit. On phones, the cabin pad moves and interacts; drag the view to look. G, or Menu → Landing gear, commands the four folding legs during powered manual flight. Landing and docking assistance deploys them before touchdown; launch retains the down setting until commanded up. Two empty S1 fittings follow the shared mechanical mount standard. Four cockpit MFDs show live flight, navigation, systems and cargo data. P toggles main power while seated (controller: Menu, then A on MAIN POWER); shutdown disables propulsion while cabin access and emergency lighting remain available. Walk outside, explore, then return up the ramp and approach the pilot chair. F seats you; B launches.
M opens navigation. Select the star for its planets, then a planet for its moons, station and surface sites. Filters enable world markers, stations, ships, bases, live pilots and mission signals. Follow a bearing or aim directly at a visible planet, moon or star. Hold your nose on the target while the reticle ring powers the relativistic drive. When full, N / J or LB + RB + D-pad up engages; X / LT aborts. The ship brakes 20 km from a signal or above a world's surface. The star retains a 500,000 km thermal stand-off. Climb to 20 km, retract gear and keep the route clear. With no acquired or selected target, N retains free heading travel. The map holds flight. Targeted travel currently runs in solo flight; shared pilots can still be tracked.
Meridian field note: “The ring is a promise, not permission.” A relativistic drive borrows a corridor from the navigation solution: first the ship proves where it can stop, then the coils charge. Pilots call the bright circle around the nose marker the promise ring. It may carry you at nine tenths of light speed, but it cannot bargain with a mountain—or a star.
At Aeon Orbital, fly through the open hangar doors and brake over the central pad. B docks. Walk down your ship’s ramp to explore the deck, then return to the chair. B lifts off gently; S reverses out through the doors.
Menu → Build also starts a new site. In the wheel, LB/RB switches Blocks, Shapes, Facilities and Resources tabs; B closes without choosing. Release controls after choosing a piece, then press A to place.

Shift + click a destination to set a flight course. Follow the bearing with your normal flight controls; climb when your destination is beyond the horizon. A plain click uses optional quick transit.
Pyre is the hot inner planet, 10 M km from the star and tidally locked: one face bakes at 400 °C, the other glows with lava fields. Arrive 1,800 km above the twilight line: sunlight left and glowing night side right on the Aeon approach. Select Pyre on the system map and engage the drive, or use quick transit. The thin CO₂ air allows landing (B) and walking (F). Miasma orbits beyond the dark limb: a landable moon with sulphur clouds and toxic air. Your sealed suit supports surface exploration; its mineral basins and uplands share one surface from orbit to ground.
Selene is Aeon’s airless, cratered moon. Click Selene for a descent approach, or Shift + click to set a continuous-flight course. B lands, F leaves the chair. Walk aft, open the hatch with F, and walk down the ramp. Space jumps in lunar gravity. Return to the chair, F sits, and B launches. O returns to Aeon orbit.
EQUIPMENT: K or Menu → Equipment opens your loadout; View / I opens Storage. Two weapon slots (1–2), tool (3), backpack, two ammo slots and four medical quick slots (5–8). On foot or in EVA: D-pad left cycles held gear, right selects/holsters the mining tool, up selects a quick item and down uses it. RT / T / mouse fires the held item. Match ammo to the weapon; empty packs can be stowed in nearby storage.
FIELD EQUIPMENT: T or captured left mouse fires the mining laser; Xbox RT fires, D-pad right equips/holsters, and View opens the backpack. Keyboard I opens the same backpack, M opens the system map. Collected basalt, copper and ice occupy stack slots. More boxes add storage. Ship cargo, the station locker and Crescent field cache share this interface.
EVA: choose Selene rings to survey the asteroid belt. Stop below 2 m/s, F / Xbox X leaves the chair, and the open rear ramp leads physically into space. WASD / left stick thrusts; Space/C or A/B rises/descends; Q/E or bumpers roll; hold X / LT to brake drift. RT remains the mining trigger. Approach the open rear ramp slowly at deck height to board again.
